Where Nature Provides

Welcome! Timothy & Kimberly here. Mossygoat Farm is a family owned and operated business. Our products are sourced from, and produced, right here on our farm. Mossygoat Farm is nestled in the foothills of Oregon’s Northern Coastal Mountain Range and the headwaters of the South Yamhill River, nourished by her many creeks, flows before our front door. There are stands of mature evergreen and deciduous trees interspersed on open fields and much of the land has returned to native habitat and remains so for wildsteading. We apply biodynamic principals to care for our homestead garden, small orchard, and array of critters. We are happy and fortunate to offer the Wild Wisdom Botanicals family of healing products and Wild Wisdom Wool, a multi benefit organic plant fertilizer. All of our 100% natural products are sustainably sourced and ethically produced. We are happy to share with you some of our personal history and our values that shaped Mossygoat Farm. If you have any questions, drop us a line. Enjoy reading.

Purpose and Values

What is Mossygoat Farm about? Firstly, Mossygoat Farm is a small acreage working homestead. A portion of the land is used for biodynamic farming and biodynamic livestock grazing. The remainder of the land remains intentionally uncultivated for wildsteading. Mossygoat Farm is family owned and operated by Timothy and Kimberly Fulmer. An encompassing biodynamic approach is the unwavering foundation guiding every function at Mossygoat Farm. The product line, over the years, has changed for economic reasons. Today Mossygoat Farm is the home of Wild Wisdom Botanicals and Wild Wisdom Wool. Both families of products meet the very high, yet simple, standards needed for healthy and conscientious living. Wild Wisdom Botanicals includes wildcrafted salves, flower essences and tinctures made exclusively from plants growing naturally on the wildstead. Wild Wisdom Wool is available in a convenient pellet form and as a long-lasting mulch. Wild Wisdom Wool for plants is a multi-benefit plant fertilizer made ethically and sustainably, right here at Mossygoat Farm.

Wild Wisdom Botanicals

In 2015, Timothy and Kimberly purchased nearly twenty acres of land near Willamina, Oregon. The existing home and buildings were in need of repair, but with good bones. The property was once a farm with some livestock production, but it was evident that that was many years ago. Nature had reclaimed almost everything; Kimberly could not be happier. Even before moving into the house, Kimberly surveyed the land. Walking methodically over every step, it became obvious to Kimberly, nature had provided a wildcrafters bounty. Many kinds of healing plants were in such great abundance that she could responsibly wildcraft. Kimberly immediately started wildcrafting salves, tincture, and flower essences just for her family. Daily, Kimberly made careful study of the ebb and flow of nature’s rhythm at Mossygoat Farm. Only after several years, Kimberly felt carefully confident that nature provided for what could be a sustainable botanicals business. In 2022, Kimberly created the website for Mossygoat Farm and the Etsy store by the same name to introduce Wild Wisdom Botanicals. The salves, flower essences and tinctures were an instant success, garnering great reviews and repeat customers. In addition to online retail, Kimberly started to sell her botanicals at local farmers markets, holiday craft bazars, and county fair. Today, Wild Wisdom Botanicals is a trusted name for wildcrafted healing products.

December 2023 was much like any winter month; many projects were on hold due to the season. If one were fortunate, the mornings could start a bit slower. The morning started for Kimberly Fulmer, innocuous, with a hot cup of coffee and a fully charged smartphone. Scrolling on the internet can turn up real treasure. Kimberly found a gem while reading articles on Modern Farmer. The article of particular interest was titled “[Waste Wool] is a Burden for Farmers. What if it Could be a Solution Instead?” The article was about pelletized sheep wool. From her collegiate studies, Kimberly already knew of the many benefits sheep wool provided for plants. Raw scrap wool and fleece had been used in her garden and in all the potted plants since sheep were introduced to Mossygoat Farm. Kimberly shared the article about pelletized wool with her husband Timothy. A fruitful conversation ensued. The idea that scrap sheep wool could be made into a convenient pellet form was not to be dismissed. With newfound knowledge that wool could be pelletized, research quickly ensued. Academic bodies including the University of Vermont and Ohio State University had already conducted successful trials with pelletized wool. Several papers had already been published by the broader scientific community about wool pellets for plants. Academia, state government agriculture bureaus, and the scientific community at large have all espoused the multiple benefits of pelletized wool for plants. That day, Timothy moved all of the wool fleece stored in the barn to his workshop. The stage was set to develop what would soon become Wild Wisdom Wool Mulch and Wild Wisdom Wool Pellets.

Our Story on a Personal Note

Mossygoat Farm is the dream realized for Timothy and Kimberly. They met over 20 years ago when Timothy, an experienced firefighter, stepped off the engine to greet Kimberly, a firefighter in training. He proposed ten days later, they married ten months later, and they have been happily married ever since. Seeking out a meaningful life and living a nature connected life has been a theme of their life together.

Timothy and Kimberly have always been the adventures while still managing to keep one foot grounded in the everyday life of Timothy’s career and Kimberly’s career of being a stay-at-home, homeschooling mother.

Timothy neared retirement and wanted trade the suburbs for country living. In 2015 Mossygoat Farm was born when Timothy and Kimberly purchased a haggard piece of property off the beaten path. A love affair of place began.

Intent to use principals of Biodynamics, Timothy and Kimberly named the property Mossygoat Farm. The farm’s name was eclectic. To clarify the purpose and direction for Mossygoat Farm, the credo “Where Nature Provides” was immediately adopted.

Kimberly has a B.S. degree in Environmental Science. She is a biodynamic farmer, horsewoman, wildcrafter, mother, and an expert in rewilding. She became interested in natural living while in college where she studied biochemistry and ecology. Kimberly founded Wild Wisdom Botanicals to share the healing that nature offers.

Timothy is a food service professional, novice blacksmith, biodynamic enthusiast, and father. In 1983, Timothy enlisted in the Marine Corps. While serving on active duty, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Timothy was honorably discharged and continued to work in the public sector. After 32 years of government service, Timothy retired. That same year, he purchased the property that was to become Mossygoat Farm.

When the Fulmer’s moved in, the buildings and property infrastructure was in much need of repair. There were “good bones” to build on. The property had nearly twenty acres and a home that was built from wood milled on site. Dairy goats were purchased in short order. The reason for dairy goats was twofold, to create access to the outbuildings on the property and several family members were lactose intolerant. Starting a small business selling goat milk was the Fulmer’s first commercial enterprise. From the caprine endeavor, Mossygoat Farm was named. Even with robust sales, sadly, dairy goats were not as economically sound as hoped for. The Fulmer’s still raise a few dairy goats, just for the family.

Today, with her children grown, Kimberly is busy with wildcrafting and the homestead. Her small yet bustling barn houses a modest flock of sheep. Kimberly does have help with the day-to-day shepherding duties but the dairy goats run the flock of sheep. The great pyrenes dog is the best lamb babysitter in the world, and Kimberly’s horse is the benevolent queen and guardian of everything; whether if having four legs or two.

In December 2023 Timothy first found out that sheep wool could be pelletized. The same day, he started the journey to develop Wild Wisdom Wool. Timothy had already known about the benefits of sheep wool for plants. He also knew; raw wool fleece was a very cumbersome product for the marketplace. Hurdles were present to produce wool pellets, a product that practically does not exist. The Fulmer’s worked hard and met all the challenges. Today Wild Wisdom Wool Mulch and Wild Wisdom Wool Pellets are available for everyone.
